Catching up!

Hey guys. So I'm really going to break the mold here and use pictures to help me detail what we've been up to.

So when Aviansh missed his connection and was stranded in Houston, TX for 24hrs, I spent the day walking around a bit. Exchanged money on this very touristy street. Imagine hordes of people, lots of name brand stores,. However, that street ended at a really beautiful park (top) where I sat down and ate food I'd picked up from the supermercado. Then I checked out la plaza de mayo (bottom).
Pretty overcast that first day.

Probably my favorite thing so far was the fĂștbol match between boa juniors and racing , two clubs both based in buenos aires (I think). Anyway, the hostel puts together these trips to the game. Fairly cheap at $60 usd or so. This pic above can't really do it justice, but it was a hell of an atmosphere. Almost nonstop noise for 90 minutes. Fun fact: at least in this league, they've banned away fans from the home stadium to prevent violence,  so mas o menos everyone there was a racing fan. We were explicitly told by our guide/chaperone to not root for boca, "not even as a joke, not funny, you'll get beat up." Weeeeee.

That was all on Sunday. There was also some drinking after the game (none alloewed in the stadium, which I suppose is good), and I made friends with this guy from Norway, another from England, and another from Cali. Friendships are very transient in the hostel world, it seems, because I haven't seen any of them since. Haha! Avinash rolled up Monday around noon, and  we spent the day walking around a bit. I did a terrible job taking pictures, but as you can see above it was a lot nicer out.

Since Monday, it's been more relaxing and so on. That's vague, but it's really time consuming to post all this from my phone. Highlights included some incredible steaks, free pool in the hostel, and absurdly late nights because 2am is considered early. Note: discotheques are I think an acquired taste that I have not yet acquired. I'm definitely ready to get on the road down south to lakes region/Patagonia. Our bus leaves at 3 this afternoon, and we'll have 24 hours from then to bariloche. Actually looking forward to it! The city is really nice and the hostel is fun, but i think I'd like a bit more peace and quiet and a bit less socializing. Depending where I'm at when Avinash leaves, maybe I'll come back to revisit the city. Right now, Patagonia is calling.

Ciao!
